Model: Adapter
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Is it safe to operate the MC220L with a 12V power supply?

What is the maximum supply voltage range for the media converter MC220L?

best regards,
einstein

@einstein

It should be not safe if you use 12V. Because MC220L support 9V/0/6A. 12V will damage the product.

@Andone

Thank you for the info - but are you a developer of TP-Link, or do you have inside information.
I had already read that in the manual.
But since someone wrote that he supplied the device with 5V and this internally most likely has a stepper-down converter. Unfortunately I only have a 12V DC supply available.

Andone is right: MC220L hardware V4 requires 9V/0.6A. MC220L hardware V2 once could be powered with either 9V/0.6A or 5V/1A, but also not with 12V. Just see the data sheets for the different versions.

However, if you ask me I would use an external step-down converter to get 9V out of 12V.
