Hey guys :)

So to get a connection to a second house nearby i got two TP-Link CPE210. I set up one as access point and connected it with the isp router and the second one as client and connected it to an access point to spread the wifi over the second house. The houses are around 30 meters apart. I did a speedtest with the tool from the web interface and it was about 30 Mpbs, but if I do a speedtest on speedtest.net I only get around 3-4 Mpbs. But at the main house I get a speed of 18-20 Mpbs from the isp. I also want to mention that if I do a speedtest.net test the first half of a second it gets the speed of 18mpbsf, but then it instantly drops to the lower speed. I link an image of some of my settings below.

Hopefully you can help me! Thanks!

- Luke

@Luke.o, you should:

  • disable MAXtream (makes no sense for a PtP link),
  • set 802.11n-only mode,
  • use a channel width of 20 MHz for the 2.4 GHz band (for 40 MHz channel width you need 8 channels at once!).

But it will never reach maximum throughput possible with CPE210 if the frequeny band is overcrowded at your area.

Usually 5 GHz CPE510 are used for directional links b/c of its advantages over 2.4 GHz.
