Region : Germany

Model : TL-WA5210G

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version : actual

ISP : Does not matter

Hello @all,

while several tests with some WA5210g and the WA7510g there has been the state, that the device is "pingable" (means responds to pings) but no web-UI in the browser.
This occurs after changing the Wired IP, sometimes after a reboot of the device.

restarting the browser (Firefox / IE), deactivating /activating the NIC, Restarting the PC (Windows) does not help.
Problems has been reported by a colleague, which is using MacOS or Linux.

On my WIN-System in more than 3/4 of the cases it seems to help to configure the network card with standard GW and DNS to the device.

Is there any explanation for this behaviour?

THX,
Leo

What are the operation mode of the above two access points ? Do you mean you can not login to the web-interface of them ?

Hi Kane,

exactly that: I mean i can not login to the web-interface of them!

Example:
You did some changes in the web-interface, the AP is going to reboot.
In Your Browser: Nothing happens...
After a while you try to connect with IP in the browsers address line...but no connect.
Restarting the AP, the browser and so on leaves no effect.
There is still no connection when you change from mozilla to IE....

At all times you have a replay ping then.

...

Hi Leo, if ping test is OK, it means connection between AP and PC is OK.
Open Start menu, in search box, type in http://192.168.1.254(ap's IP) and press enter to see if you can open it properly.

Hi Lambo,

Nice Link. THx.

The description there is ordering you to fill in a Standrad GW and a DNS.
In fact, my tests show that this seems to be necessary.

I conclude from this link with its instructions and the tests, that you have to fill the GW and DNS addresses to get a http connect to the Web-UI.

Since there are no packets to direct in other networks and no names to dissolve, this is for me not really understandable.
This is strange, because there is no 'real' GW or DNS in a network wich consists of the AP and my PC...

There are a lot of other devices which can be configured via Web-UI with only a fixed IPv4 IP and subnet mask..... (Fritz!; D-Link; Cisco, HP, Linksys, etc.)

OK, i know now how to do it in the future, but i don't like not to understand things....
