Hi,

 

I question myself, what is the functional difference between those 2 switches: TL-SG2428P and TL-SG3428MP

 

Of course, the 3428 has more poe budget and the console features.

BUT: L3 features of TL-SG3428MP are listed in L2 & L2+ features group of TL-SG2428P

So this really hard to figure out...

 

I want to use them with the Omada controller. What are the effective differences? Their specs read pretty much the same.

As far as I know, the SG3428MP is more advanced and has better performance than the SG2428P, with the addition of L3 features, and it is obvious that the SG3428MP is a managed switch, while the SG2428P is just a smart switch.

Just striving to develop myself while helping others.

@Virgo Yes, from the category and their titles and product numbers it is clear, that one is a "managed switch" and the other one is "only" a "smart switch". Nevertheless, I could not find the real functional differences comparing their respective specs, despite the ones mentioned in my first post.

  @wuppi  I have the TL-SG3428MP, and it has variable speed fans, while I've read in posts in this forum that the TL-SG2428P fans are always on full.  That was a big difference for me.

Thanks - But I have read that this is not the case and some youtube review confirmed it. The fans do go slower after some time when boot up is done
