Hi all,

 

I bought two TL-SG2008 v1 switches way back in 2017. Even then, the firmware was 2 years old. 

 

Looking at the TP-Link website there are later revisions of firmware, but not for the V1. 

 

Is it possible (and has anyone tried) to go from a v1 firmware to a v3 or later firmware on these switches?

 

Seems to me, according to TP-Link firmware upgrade guide, that these switches were pretty much obsolete when I bought them.

 

Any advice appreciated smiley

No. So, to my best knowledge, you'll see an error like "incompatible firmware" or "wrong file". 

You cannot use the firmware from hardware V3 to an HW V1 device. That's not how it works. If you want to keep up with the tide, you consider getting a hardware upgrade(buy new ones). New switches are now adapted to Omada Controller which is helping easy management.
