Hi

 

We recently bought CPE510 and 710 5ghz, however, we couldn't stay connected for longer than 15 minutes, it was suggested in here that due to where we are located that 5GHz is useless here and that we needed 2.4, so, I returned the other equipment and bought x2 CPE 210.

 

Our distance is 300 metres and great line of sight, however, the same happens with CPE 210 and we now lose connection every 15 minutes with 210 as well, I'm starting to wonder if this is even worth it to be honest, do these units really work for anyone or are we stuck with disconnection forever?

  @SimoneIcough 

2.4Ghz does not have DFS channels and should not have the same issue like CPE510.

I gusee it is more likely a power issue on one of the unit.

 

You may try Ping the Client CPE IP from AP site.  There is a Ping test tool in the CPE web interface.

It can help you detect if the problem is on wireless connection between AP and Client CPE, or actually wireless is working but problem on Etherent connections.

 

It could also be an issue on power supply. So you may need to check if the LED on both CPE are green stable.

Thanks for your reply, yeah I was a bit annoyed that we went through all that, changed our equipment to end up with the same issue. 

 

All ethernet cables are brand new and all power units light green. I will go to the AP unit and do a ping test as you suggest and report back the numbers. 

 

When we are connected it is amazing but we drop every 2t minutes for around 15-25 seconds

For long wireless connection, the antenna position is also important. 

 

On the Client CPE web interface you can see the Signal Strength. In normal case -40dbm to -60dbm means a good connection. -70dmb means not good and -90dbm means bad and hard to connect

You're so helpful, I will check all you have suggested, I've just been in bed with a fever so not been over to the AP and plugged in (can't seem to connect remotely either). The AP and Client are 300metes apart 

 

Saturday we ran for 1 hour without a hitch which was amazing 🤣, our TV buffers 40 seconds ish so we barely notice the up and down on the TV but on our phones and tablets we do of course.
