Model: TL-SG108PE
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20211021 Rel.56865

Hello,

I have the TL-SG108PE running 1.0.1 Build 20211021 Rel.56865

It is unexpectedly sending layer 2 broadcast packets every 1s, layer 2 eth protocol = 0x00008899

why does TPLink use a non-standard protocol for loop detection ?

why does TPLink not use industry accepted IEEE 802.1D STP or IEEE 802.1w RSTP protocol BPDU packets for loop detection instead ?

Why this protocol? I think it's decided by the chipset manufacturer Realtek. Multiple small desktop switches by other vendors such as netgear also use this Realtek Ether-type (0x8899) for loop detection, not only TP-Link.
