Hi, does your macbook pro have an ethernet port? If it has, you can use the typical topo to login the CPE web UI wired.
Check this out.
If wireless is the only way to connect the CPE, suggest you make sure the CPE and the macbook pro are in the same subnet and use the cpe IP address to login for tesing, do a ping test before you try logging in can check the connectivity.
