Region : UnitedStates

Model : TL-WA5210G

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 4.4.8 Build 130502 Rel.61441n

ISP : Comcast

I am looking to bridge a gap between two house of approximately 0.5miles. The setup I am testing internally, prior to external testing is shown below.

ISP................Existing Router
Comcast<---->Wireless Router<----->TL-WR1043ND<----->TL-WA5210G )))))))))) ((((((((((TL-WA5210G<----->TL-WR1043ND

*Both 5210's are set in Bridge-Mode, Internal Antenna, and low power at 7dbm

Note:Eventually the existing wireless router will be removed from the configuration

Issues:
The main issue i'm having is poor performance.....~ 1Mb/s speed tests :-(

Questions:
For internal testing, is there a minimal distance and power i should be using...i.e., 20' and 7dmb for low power. My thought is that even at low power, if the antenna are too close, they're essentially shouting at each other and the signal is still too strong, hence the poor performance.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what settings to use for internal testing while its' easy to access, prior to mounting exernally?

thank you.

The setup I am testing internally

do not test performance in a room, just set the them, 5210 radios are ment for outdoor, leave a full power and as far apart as room lets you,
you will find how to here http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?73430-Two-TL-WA7210N-in-Brdige-mode&region=china i recommend you to
read all the post you will understand many things. few things change between 5210 and 7210.
Answer to your questions
1-yes
2.i have answered this
have more Qs, ask
this is the only difference in settings, i uploaded 3 pictures.
first picture, both 5210s have to be set AP mode
second picture Wireless Mode Setting AP and check enable SSID
third picture Wireless Mode Setting Client, just ignore the SSID you are seeing.

thank you...one other quick question....If I want to access the remote 5210G's (may be more than one), should I set the IP's based on the Home Router?. In the example I have below, my Home Router and the 5210 - #1 connected to it are set to the same subnet, and I have also set the remote 5210 - #2 to the same subnet also.

ISP................Home Router...........5210 - #1............................5210 - #2
Comcast<---->TL-WR1043ND<----->TL-WA5210G )))))))))) ((((((((((TL-WA5210G<----->TL-WR1043ND<-------->Clients

About the same problem between 2 WA-5210G
2014-03-18 23:27:39
Have you found solution to this?

I have alike poor performance problem between my 2 WA-5210G Access points.

Performance is very good after reboot of other AP but gets worse and almost useless after 1 day.

Distance setting is set 0.1 km and there is no obsticles between APs.

Firmware Versions: 4.4.7 Build 120821 Rel.56860n
Hardware Versions: WA5210G v1 0816301C
Location: Finland
My 1st WA5210G 192.168.0.250
Wireless
Operating Mode: Bridge (Point to Point)
Signal: 28 dB
Remote MAC: A0-F3-C1-DE-FA-F6
Channel: 1
Mode: 54Mbps (802.11g)
MAC Address: 64-70-02-56-F0-56

My 2nd WA5210G 192.168.0.251
Wireless
Operating Mode: Bridge (Point to Point)
Signal: 31 dB
Remote MAC: 64-70-02-56-F0-56
Channel: 1
Mode: 54Mbps (802.11g)
MAC Address: A0-F3-C1-DE-FA-F6
Ping beyond 192.168.0.250 to 192.168.0.251 at the moment of reboot:
64 bytes from 192.168.0.251: icmp_seq=32 ttl=64 time=2206 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.251: icmp_seq=33 ttl=64 time=2268 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.251: icmp_seq=41 ttl=64 time=596 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.251: icmp_seq=42 ttl=64 time=3.68 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.251: icmp_seq=43 ttl=64 time=2.35 ms
What tuning of the settings there are to do?

Or should I give up bridge mode? Like I just found in
http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?3015-2-WA7510N-AP-s-in-Bridge-Mode&p=142892&viewfull=1#post142892

APs are there just ot connect to LANs and brigde sounds the simplest.

Thanks

Distance setting is set 0.1 km ---- So what's the true distance between the two 5210? If they are only 100 meters apart, 31 dB is not ideal for such a small distance. And the Distance settings should never smaller than the true distance.

1) change different channels, use the Survey button to find a channel not overused.

2) try AP )))(((( client, use WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK to prevent troublemaker loitering in your connection. Bridge is not the best choice.

3) when the connection gets worse, check whether the Signal value drops not. If the signal do drops frequently while no environmental condition changes(no winds, no rain, no heavy channel interference), contact your seller to get a replacement.

(Line of sight may be not enough, the two device should also be placed high enough to overcome Fresnel zone)

True distance is about that 0.1 km. Before I got it set 0.2 km because manual said to put about 110% of the distance and that 0.1 accuracy is the smallest.

The 1st device is at 6 metres height and the other one about 3 metres. Both in places easy to install in building.

Since I wrote first time, now connection has worked well over 3 days. I live in rural area. There are no other wireless network seen expect those I have.

The thing about environmental conditions is interesting. There has not been sunny for that 3 days if I get it right.
And everytime connection has gone worse it has been early afternoon.

I will check whether this issue occurs due to weather.

Thanks!
