Hardware Version : V2

Firmware Version : 3.16.5 Build 130320 Rel.34410n

Hi,

I just bought a TL-WA7210N . Even though the manual says that in the System Tools Menu a
"Ping watchdog" submenu should exist, in my router it doesn't exist. See photo:

Also the SNMP menu is absent.

Where are these options? Especially, ping watchdog is essential, because the device will operate
unattended.

Hardware: WA7210N v2 00000000
Firmware: 3.16.5 Build 130320 Rel.34410n

Regards,
BB

BB

I've checked mine for sure. There are SNMP and Ping Watchdog menu in Firmware: 3.16.5 Build 130320.

You may try:
1) Hard Reset your 7210
2) clear browsing data of Firefox or use Chrome.

BB you are right you might have the first production serial numbers start with 137XXXXX right now I have a friends 7210 cause he was having issues and no Ping, mine is boxed and is one of the new ones dif serial, so I can't help you.
do not forget this issue
Have just seen a response from TP-Link tech support that states units manufactured prior to 5th August Serial nos 137xxxxxxxxx have a problem!
Send back to dealer for units starting serial no 138xxxxxxxx or higher.
Post 13 here http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?59935-TL-WA7210N-Channel-bandwidth-and-rate
If you check 7210 Emulator it has Ping Dog Watch.

Hi again,

Can I find the serial number via the web gui?
Or if I have to go to the unit, where is the serial situated?

The unit works OK for 802.11bg (have not tried with 802.11n).

I will go there locate the serial and re-upload the latest firmware and post the results here.

The serial is on the box
The statement is on post #13 Mr. Steve Glover aka Signet was in contact with Nancy Xie from TL tech. support and as the statement says
Have just seen a response from TP-Link tech support that states units manufactured prior to 5th August Serial nos 137xxxxxxxxx have a problem!
Send back to dealer for units starting serial no 138xxxxxxxx or higher.

HAVE JUST SEEN A RESPONSE meaning Signet is the one that receive the response, I mailed Nancy Xie, Andy Peng, Northern California Branch Manager | TP-LINK USA Corporation, Mexico support about this issue, no one answered, by those days none of us have notice the missing of Ping Watch Dog,
Especially, ping watchdog is essential, because the device will operate unattended.

if it works unattended why going through the RMA process

Have you got the replacement? If so, does the new unit with S/N 138xxxxxxxx have ping watchdog menu and SNMP menu?

there IS snmp AND watchdog

Hello,
There IS snmp AND watchdog !!! but NOT in WISP client mode.
Now, there is only one firmware available for this device dating from .
AP and client modes DO have these goodies!!! Why? I don't know... I, myself, am using 7210 in WISP mode and since it's unattended, it's a big hussle knowing how unreliabe my link is...
7210 has stability issues and mother company does not seems to be willing to release a fix (status page freezes, half loads, etc)
Beware until new firmware is released!
PS
other TPlink routers capable of changing stock firmware with open source (dd-drt for example) seems to be experiencing same freezing on status pages and limited pass-through speeds...
