Model: VIGI NVR2016H
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 241227 Rel.58554n

Installation with 1x NVR2016H and 5x C540-V:

Everything works fine, except playback in Browser via webinterface of the NVR:

When a camera is selected in Playback-tab, the video is loaded an starts, but after 3 seconds it stucks completely (without any error shown).

Clicking on timeline selects the timestamp but doesnt do anything (video does not load).

When waiting for about a minute or so, clicking on timeline loads the correct video for the timestamp, plays für 3 seconds and then stuck like above.

When selecting another channel, video loads at once, plays 3 seconds and stucks like above.

When using VIGI IOS-App (on iPhone oder iPad) via the TP-Link-ID, everything works fine, no problems with playback.

When using VIGI Security Manager on same PCs, direct connected to NVR (not via TP-Link-ID), playback also works fine.

But using the secuirty manager doesnt seems to be an option, as it can only play 4 channels in the overview - by the way:why?

(So there is no general problem with recording/playback)

NVR and camera running at newest firmware.

Restarting the whole Installation and/or formatting the hard drive doesnt change anything.

Tested with 3 PCs (Windows 10, Windows 11) and 3 browsers (Edge, Chorme, Firefox) - everytime the same.

(So this is no problem with a particular PC or Browser)

Hopefully someone can give a hint to get this working...

Thanks,

JCV

Hi JCV,

The issue you’re experiencing seems browser-specific. Since playback works fine on:

VIGI iOS App (via TP-Link ID)

VIGI Security Manager (direct NVR connection)

…it’s not a hardware, recording, or firmware issue.

The web interface likely has a compatibility issue with browser-based playback, possibly related to how streams buffer or decode.

You've tested:

3 different PCs

3 major browsers

Restarting + formatting

Anyhow, that rules out client-side and storage issues.

As for VIGI Security Manager only showing 4 channels, that's by design — possibly due to performance limits or interface layout (similar to how https://y2mate.now limits download formats for performance/stability).

Suggestions:

Try using Internet Explorer mode in Edge, if possible — older interfaces often depend on ActiveX or specific codecs.

Check for any browser plugin or setting (e.g. hardware acceleration, streaming support).

Use the VIGI App or Security Manager until TP-Link updates the browser support.

Reach out to TP-Link support to report the web interface playback bug — may be fixed in future firmware.

Hope this helps!

  @y2mate202500

Hi y2mate202500,

thanks für your reply - it was a firmware-issue indeed.

After calling TP-Link partner support they debugged the system 2 times, confirmed that clients and browsers were okay, and found something in the firmware.

After building a custom beta-firmware and installing it, everything works fine...

It tooks a longer time and needed some work, but is okay now.

Greetings,

JCV
