Model: CPE510
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Good day everyone!

The situation is a little bit awkward: a friend of mine asked me to help remotly with his idea of connecting wi-fi security cameras placed near gates of his house to his in-house wi-fi network. He bought two CPE510 units. The best result we got so far is setting device (a) as a Bridge and device (b) as a Client and turning on wi-fi coverage on (b) using the same wi-fi name and password as inside the house.

Looks like that we are trying to make something totally wrong here. I made some awful drawing trying to explain the plan. Any ideas on this subject?

Der Plan

Thanks in advance!

Hi  @PaulStogov

The second CPE should be configured as client mode. And to provide wifi connection, you can add another outdoor AP, such as EAP225-outdoor, plugging it into the second CPE.

The CPE uses a directional antenna, so when acting as a repeater, there’s almost no WiFi signal coverage behind it.

Thank you for the replay! Yet I have more concerns: there is a tree in between two devices. Is it way too bad for a transmission for CPE510s? And what is the minimum OK distance between them? Aren't 70 meters too few?

Hi  @PaulStogov

This depends on the actual wireless environment, such as tree density, surrounding obstacles, and wireless interference. If possible, try to install the CPE higher than these trees. The CPE has strong outdoor wireless transmission capabilities, and minor obstacles should not affect its 70-meter propagation.

Below is an outdoor installation guide, you may have a look:
