Hi All

Have setup a CPE510 and trying to get a Edimax 5Ghz router setup as a WISP client to connect to it. However when I login to the Edimax it can't see the CPE510 but it can see routers in the 2.4Ghz range.

My laptop and tablet can see the CPE510 fine but the Edimax can't.

Currently the CPE510 is on channel 136.

Any and all help welcome.

Thanks

David

According to your description, it seems you have mistaken the router to be working in 5GHz.
What's more, channel 136 is a DFS channel. Once there is radar signal, CPE510 will stop broadcast its SSID and during this time, you can't detect it.

Hi

Thanks for responding.

The Edimax Router is dual band and so supports both, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. While I understand that channel 136 is a DFS channel, for the UK the CPE510 doesn't support anything else.

Thanks

You can try to do the below trouble shooting:
1. Configure your Edimax Route in the 5GHz and then use your laptop and tablet to connect to it. In this way you can check if the 5GHz wireless adapter is broken.
2. Wired connect the router to internet to confirm it's not a defect unit.
3. Reset the CPE510, choose test_mode, setup it as an access point, 802.11a/n mode, 40MHz channel, no password needed. Configure the same setting in your router before detecting the AP.

Make sure your [COLOR=#333333]Edimax Router supports channel 136, and double check the channel width settings on both CPE510 and Edimax Router.
Besides, as stupidbird mentioned, select test_mode instead of UK, you will be able to choose other channels, you can try with this if your
Edimax Router doesn't support channel 136...while please pay attention to your local laws.

@kintel post#1 lacks of info. the reason Tp-Link released firmware 1.3.0 is to make 510 work with more brands, upgrade 510 to latest firmware here http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?82073-TP_PharOS_1.3.0_150807_Beta-add-CDP-Radius-MAC-Auth-and-compatible-with-MikroTik.&p=165006&viewfull=1#post165006 do not select country in settings, select Test Mode
