Hi,

I want to extend an existing wifi network some distance (~200m) to a separate building.  I am hoping to use just one CPE210 on the recieving end, using its directional nature to 'see' an existng external access point (which is a Wavlink HD2 AC600).

Is this possible and if so which mode is best to use on the CPE210?

Thank you.

Hi  @martinwinlow

CPE210 can easily recieve wireless signal from 200 meters away, but you need also make sure the HD2 AC600 can send wireless signal to that distance.

You may refer to the installation guide below:

Long distance wireless connection concerns when using outdoor access point

The configuration mode for the CPE210 would be Client mode:

How to Configure the Client Mode on the Pharos device

Note: CPE in client mode won't broadcast wireless signal, you will need to add an access point into its LAN port.

@Vincent-TP Thanks - I used 'repeater' mode in the end but still used an access point to get the wifi strong enough to get downstairs from the upstairs bedroom where the CPE210 cable comes in.  It isn't quite line of sight between the Wavlink and CPE (2 slate roof ridges get in the way by about a metre or so) but the link still does a reasonable 10Mbps which is better than nothing...  If I get bored, maybe I'll try Client Mode and see if things improve at all...
