Model: TL-SM5310-T
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I have installed this SFP module in the SFP port of my switch and connected a FTP cable of my TP link 2,5Gb PCI network card which is installed in my Proxmox server but there is no connection. It does work in a normal RJ45 port on this switch but not in the RJ45 SFP module because I'd like to have more speed between the Proxmox server and TP link switch and thought I install it like this.

Hi  @Rytec

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

The SM5310-T supports 10GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T, and 1000BASE-T for the remote side, while your switch SG2428LP only has gigabit SFP ports, so it cannot establish a consistent speed on both sides with your 2.5G PCI network card.

To solve this, you may consider using the normal RJ45 port on the SG2428LP, or using a switch (TP-LINK switch would be better and more compatible) with 10G SFP+ slots so you can change the speed consistent with your 2.5G network card.

Hi  @Rytec

The model SX3008F may work for you as it has 8 10G SFP+ slots, and you can change the connected port speed to 2.5G which is consistent with the remote 2.5G PCI network card.

Since this is a switch without RJ45 ports, so you can also visit our website to check more suitable models based on your actual needs.

@Hank21 Thanks for the information, can you point me maybe to a small TP -Link managed switch to use in my Omada environment which could work with this 10G SFP port?
