Model: ES208GP   TL-SG2428P
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.03

HI,

HW/Version above is for ES208GP

The SG2428P has V4.0 &  4.0.26 Build 20260121 Rel.53429

OC SW Controller: 6.2.0.15(beta)

The Uplink on SG2428P port 24:

How ever on the ES208GP port 8:

the LED confiorms that speed.

Any how normally work with 1Gbps but very it's less. Any other device (tried the AP directly two of them) always gives 1Gbps.

The ES208GP seems to have many some issues. The distance between the two is about 50m.

Basically this switch is non performing here (for 1Gbps).

kind regards

Jay

Hi,@JayinNZ

Thank you for posting your query on our commercial forum.

Please refer to the following troubleshooting steps:
1.Please replace the Ethernet cable connecting your two switches with a shorter one
2.Kindly ensure that you are using a Cat5E or higher-rated Ethernet cable
3.Please connect your computer directly to the affected port via a wired connection, and run a speed test to check whether the actual speed you get is close to 1Gbps
4.Please test with another available port on the switch to see if you notice any improvement in speed.

If the issue still persists after trying all of the steps above, we will need you to provide the following information to help us further diagnose your problem:
1.A full description or diagram of your complete network topology
2.The maximum internet speed provided by your Internet Service Provider
3.The speed test result when your computer is connected directly to the relevant switch port.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.

  @Jeremy_12

I did some more research on this:

The topology is SG2428P port 28 (copper SPF) tob ES208GP port 8:

This is between building connect cat 6a conduit 30m end-to-end, office to workshop.

  • sometime the speed negotiated was 1GB but most 110/100Mbps with ES208GP
  • attaching the EAP610 on port 28: 1 Gbps link speed  (tested both EAP I have)
  • changing the uplink to another office switch like SG2218P to ES208GP: still 10/100Mbps

changed now to SG2428P p28 tp SG2210P port 8

Conclusion the ES208GP seems NOT to be up for the task! Is there interlink settings (port config on eachside) that may affect the speed?

Another oddity is i tried the SPF copper on SG2210P but that one somehow fails to come up. Not sure why?

kind regards

Jay

@JayinNZ OT but I see you have a SG2210P? Could you please confirm if that model has the port packet capture network tool in controller mode? I picked up a SG2206MP from same range and was surprised to find it has no packet capture, even though every other SG2xxx product I have does. I know SG2008P has it. Does your SG2210P?
