Yes, there is a firmware (beta) that I passed the TP-Link, but I have a commitment not to reveal. I do not want to incur unpleasant and possible legal proceedings. Nor in other consumers' guarantees, I did it on my own responsibility.

I write this because it is true, enough time has passed for them to be official released.

You might want to try with latest Build 1.0.3 available on the German download page: http://www.tp-link.de/download/T1600G-28TS_V1.html#Firmware

According to TP-Link support this firmware (1.0.3) includes the fixes from the Beta version (1.0.2), despite the fact that its timestamp is April 2016. On my T1600G enabling SNMP now works without breaking the web UI.

Hey dude, I have not met the problem you mentioned, but I want to know how did you find that there is still traffic passing through?
The problem you described looks like a switch hang problem.
And did you try to run any snmp settings ? Such as snmp walk or something like this, if you just enable it and do not run any snmp activities, I think it will not add much burden to the switch.
