Hi All

 

I'm having a few issues with my CPE510's which is used to transmit IP CCTV, 

 

The AP is working fine, And i Manage to connect to the AP via the client and finding the AP SSID, i lock onto the AP and all is fine for a few hours as i am able to control the PTZ of the Camera and picture quality is fine etc. 

 

Am i missing a step that would stop this dropping out, LOS is ok etc, as soon as i log back into the client i can find the SSID no problem, it just seems to drop it after a while?

 

Using a Hikvison Dvr, and has worked previously perfectly until the client Became damaged in the wind and replaced.

That's a bit too vague; could you please post a screenshot of the status page when the connection drops again?

 

Did you ground the CPEs properly according to the installation guide?

@R1D2  thanks for the reply. I will get a screen shot from the ap and client this afternoon. Yes all grounded as before.

this client side once reconnected. I have just changed the poe adapter incase of an issue there

@R1D2 i have since lowered the tx down one so not maxing out at 300 to see if this makes any difference, i have noticed that the PTZ control is not as quick to respond as it was be doing so. I have not managed to get the AP screenshot done since reconnection yet as ran out of time

Hello @Spenc,

 

the client screenshots are sufficient, AP screenshot isn't needed.

 

I don't see a break on the connection between client and AP, so probably you mean high latency with »dropping out«? Just days ago there was a similar discussion about drop-outs here, albeit with CPE210.

 

What I see from your screenshots:

  • There was a reboot/power-up of the client 6 minutes before taking the screenshot. Porbably caused by the change of the PoE adapter? If so, ignore this; if not, check for a flaky power supply/outages.
  • Your CPE's firmware version is very old (1.1.0 from 2014). Latest official firmare for CPE510 v1 is 2.1.6 from 2017. I even run 2.2.1 from 2019 on my CPE510 v1.1. You should upgrade the firmware, see links below.
  • In first screenshot the CPE uses channel 120. Then it changes to 136 on second screenshot (probably due to searching for best channel to use or due to DFS / radar detection).
  • In first screenshot it adjusts to 2km distance, in second screenshot it measures 0.9km. I suggest to set the distance manually to the actual distance +0.1km.
  • The CPEs use 802.11a/n mixed mode. Set it manually to 802.11n-only mode.
  • The CPEs have MAXtream enabled. You should disable it for a PtP link. MAXtream is needed only for PtMP links.
  • Channel width is 20/40 MHz, that's o.k. for CPE510. But if there are many (foreign) APs around and all other measures above don't improve the stability of the link, try to set it to 20 MHz just to test reliability (this reduces speed by 50%, but might increase stability).
  • SNR is pretty good in screenshot 1, but excellent in screenshot 2. Either let channel setting on »Auto« to let the CPE choose the best channel (but it takes some time until the CPEs synchronize after a reboot/radar detection) or consider manual setting to a fixed WiFi channel not or only sparely used by foreign APs. Note that DFS can force the CPE to change the channel due to radar detection even if the channel is set to a specific one. Use wireless survey and the built-in spectrum analyzer (menu »Tools«) to find the best channel.

There have been many changes since firmware v1.1.0, especially regarding stability of the link. Probably this solves your problems of high latencies / PTZ not or slowly responding.

 

Note that Pharos firmware is an universal firmware. This means it is the same for each region (since region code is stored in the device's flash memory) and it's even the same firmware for almost all Pharos devices (only exceptions are firmwares for CPE610 and for CPE210 starting with hardware v2).

@Spenc, you're welcome. While you are at it, check antenna alignment. The new firmware has a nice antenna alignment tool (see the »Tools« menu).
