Hi

 

I know this switch doesn't support LACP, So I am trying to set up a new nas with 2 ports, 

 

I have the options to set a bond type on the NAS to the below

 

Round-robin (balance-rr)

Active-backup (active-backup)

XOR (balance-xor)

Broadcast (broadcast)

IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic link aggregation (802.3ad, LACP)

Adaptive transmit load balancing (balance-tlb)

Adaptive load balancing (balance-alb)

 

So which would be the option i can use and is best, would i set this first?

 

then on routers just set up Trunk with the 2 ports im going to use?

No, you always create a LAG group on the switch first. Just use one cable initially. Connect the other one once you finished the setup.

XOR (balance-xor)

 

You can try Round-robin (balance-rr), but that may result in many retransmissions due to out of sequence packets. You can not use IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic link aggregation (802.3ad, LACP) as you already know and Broadcast (broadcast) is apparently for some special cases. The others are to be used with switches that do not support LAG at all. I think Adaptive load balancing (balance-alb) is best in such cases.

Yes, but only if Trunk means link aggregation as opposite to a trunk in a VLAN configuration.

I was selecting ports 1,3 and adding it here

 



XOR (balance-xor) < are you saying this is the best to use?

So would i set it up on NAS first and apply the settings, then change the Switch trunking, as last time when i enabled the switch, it wouldnt let me connect to NAS

Cheers using XOR, it can go up to 100MBs for one transfer and 30-40MBs from other PC at same time
