Model: VIGI NVR1008H   Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Recently I got my hands on a Vigi NVR 1008H which I connected to 6 TAPO cameras model C320WS. All channels are set to Event recording and NOT to continuous recording. I had multiple occasions when an event is triggered (motion) the NVR forgot to stop recording and continued to do so hours after that. It happened in the past few days to 2 of the cameras. Below you can see a comparison from TAPO app for a specific event and how it looks in Vigi app. In TAPO app the event was a with a duration of a minute or so and then another one 4 minutes later. After that there was no motion at all. But VIGI continued recording for more than 4 hours.

What could be causing this? For sure it is not a false-positive or any other causes like lights, reflections, etc. since the camera itself did not detect anything and also the area for detection is set so to avoid any unwanted causes for events (see later in this thread some settings for this specific channel).

When there is a continuous "event" it can mask a real event, which is a security risk if you rely only on the VIGI NVR and not using the TAPO app to watch recording on the microSD card in the camera.

Some settings below. Just to say that I set 15 seconds of delay for recording after the event ended.

Hi  @IvayloD

May I ask there is no other VIGI cameras in the same network, right?

The screenshots show the 2 Tapo cameras with the recording issue working fine when managed by Tapo APP, right?

By the way, may I know the hardware and firmware version of your NVR and Tapo cameras?

@Hank21 There are no other Vigi cameras in the network - just 6 Tapos. In the screenshot are depicted side by side the recordings from the same camera but shown in the Tapo app and in the Vigi app. The idea is to show the same timeframe - in the Tapo app there is no motion detected, but in the Vigi app there is a continuous motion, which is wrong. I have plenty of examples like that. In the Tapo app everything has been fine for more than a month, but in Vigi problems started the same day the NVR was integrated. The issue of fake motion recordings can be observed by two of the cameras so far, but those two are the ones with most traffic of movements around.

Vigi NVR hardware version: VIGI NVR1008H(UN) 2.30

Vigi NVR firmware version: 1.4.3 Build 251121 Rel.34128n

Tapo cameras hardware version: C320WS Version 2.0

Tapo cameras firmware version: 1.3.5 Build 250522 Rel.45630n

I tried to restart the camera, to clear the recording schedule and then to reinstate it, to switch between continuous and motion-triggered recording, but everything with no effect. The issue is fixed only when another real motion is detected and then for some time it works fine but pretty soon after another real motion the continuous motion-triggered recording is back. Today I removed the camera from the NVR and re-added it and for a few hours it has been working fine but I am monitoring it for how long. But the other camera started having that same issue after a few days of proper operation. And again to stress that in the Tapo add everything is just fine.
