Model: VIGI NVR4032H
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: X

I got a question to the VIGI NVR4032H:
The decoding capability of the NAS says 8-ch 4MP (2560x1440p).

Incoming Bandwidth 320mbps.

What is the limit of continuous recording cameras? 320mbps? or 8-ch at 4MP?

The reason why I ask is, because my current NAS gives "recommended" resolutions such as at 1440p 120FPS recording capacity. At the moment 8 cameras at 4MP, 25FPS, H265, "only" takes around 35mbit (fixed bit rate). So if I would setup the NVR am I able to connect so many cameras to it as long as the bandwidth would go with, or does the NVR says e.g. after 8 4MP cameras, maximum limit reached. As for most cameras on my end I don't need a live view I would just need the recording function.

  Hi,@Julian2111
Thank you for posting on our business forum.

Regarding the decoding capability of 8-ch 4MP: This typically refers to the number of channels and resolution that the NVR can simultaneously display in real-time preview or playback (i.e., decoding 8 streams of 4MP video). This decoding limit does not affect continuous recording.

As for the 320 Mbps incoming bandwidth, this is the hard upper limit of the NVR's network interface for processing incoming video data. As long as the total bitrate of all video streams sent from your cameras to the NVR does not exceed 320 Mbps, the NVR will be able to receive and record all footage stably.

Based on your current usage, the total bitrate of 8 4MP H.265 cameras is only around 35Mbps, which is far below the 320Mbps bandwidth limit. However, please note that the VIGI NVR4032H has a built-in hardware channel limit, so it can only connect up to 32 cameras in total.
You may refer to the NVR spec for detailed information: Specifications - VIGI NVR4032H | VIGI 32 Channel Network Video Recorder | TP-Link
