EAP653 doesn't update from 1.3.50 to latest 1.3.7
EAP653 doesn't update from 1.3.50 to latest 1.3.7
Hi all,
I updated this EAP653 long time ago with a beta version numbered 1.3.50.
Now, I'm not able to update it to 1.3.3 nor 1.3.5 nor 1.3.7 ...
I have other 2 EAP653 and I remember I was able to upgrade them, but I don't remember which firmware I had to use as first upgrade.
I'm using the OC300 controller to upgrade it manually through the device list. Basically the old way before Omada 6.0, but controller is updated to 1.32.10 .
Do you have an idea?
Thank you,
Fra

1.3.7 wont install unless you have 1.3.6 installed first, which you can get from the support sites (my controller didnt want to push this for some reason) but as soon as they had 1.3.6 then 1.3.7 installed fine.

Hi GRL,
on the other 2 I have, I installed on top of 1.3.5. I cannot find the 1.3.6 :) .
But for this one, it doesn't work any of 1.3.3, 1.3.5, 1.3.7 .
Other ideas?
Thank you,
Fra

Hi , @nicolati
Thank you very much for posting on our business forum.
Could you please confirm if you have tried clicking the "Check for Update" option in your controller to check whether your EAP can be upgraded to the latest firmware?

Additionally, we also recommend attempting a manual upgrade. Should you encounter any error messages during the upgrade process, could you please kindly provide a screenshot of the relevant error information?
For step-by-step instructions on how to perform the upgrade, you may refer to the guide below:How to upgrade EAP firmware in different management modes | TP-Link

@Jeremy_12 I have the same issue. My conclusion is: given that 1.3.50 is greater than 1.3.7 (by 0.0.43 versions), the controller sees 1.3.50 as a newer version.

Hi all,
I remember I was able to upgrade the other 2 I have to a 1.3.3, I think, but I don't remember.
I'm not sure the problem in my case is the firmware number, because I'm doing manual update through OC300, not automatic.
It's true that the automatic update doesn't show up in the controller, maybe because of what it has been said on the version number.
In a month I should go back into the other home, so we can play! :)
I don't want to risk a remote update :) .
Thank you,
Fra

I think we have problem,
| EAP653(US) v1.0 |
1.3.1 |
|
| EAP650(US) v1.0 |
1.3.7 |
but the latest stable release in oc200 global firmware
| EAP653(US) v1.0 | 1.1.3 Build 20250326 Rel. 59878 | Apr 17, 2025 07:00:00 | |
| EAP650(US) v1.0 | 1.3.6 Build 20260306 Rel. 14246 | Apr 10, 2026 07:00:00 |
while here it is
EAP650 | Omada Network Support 1.3.6
EAP653 | AX3000 Ceiling Mount WiFi 6 Access Point | Omada Network Support 1.1.3
where EAP 653(US) v1.0 version 1.3.1 comes from? while I know EAP 650(US) v1.0 1.3.7 is from oc200 global firmware beta.

I found 1.3.7 for EAP 653
https://support.omadanetworks.com/nordic/download/firmware/eap653/v1/

I just hate to search for it.

to correct my previous post
EAP650 v1 / v1.2 needs 1.3.6 installed first, which only seems available on US site for manual update, then controller can push 1.3.7
EAP653 v1 / 1.2 does not need 1.3.6 but does need at least 1.3.1 installed first and the file for 1.3.7 can be found on numerous EU support pages such as the one posted above, which according to Vincent should work for US region models as well.

As for the reports of it not accepting the update if 1.3.50 beta was installed, im not sure. I only use EAP650 v1 units, and its the exact same hardware as EAP653 (the only difference being the isnt a power supply in the 653 box). All my 650's were on 1.3.50 beta, i installed 1.3.6 manually fine, and the controller pushed 1.3.7 to them without issue. I also was able to downgrade many of them from 1.3.50 back to 1.1.3 for testing in the last few months without issue, so i dont know if some type of firmware lock was introduced on the 653 specific builds, its all a bit of a mess !
