Poor range on new EAP110-outdoor, what is normal range?

Hi there I've just setup a new EAP110-outdoor. It was fitted to the top of our roof.
It has very poor range, drops out at around 30-40mts with a clear line of site.
What do most people get for range?
I've tried different devices also.
It actually has worse range than our Telstra (network provider) technicolor modem wifi router.
It's all installed correctly as far as I can see.
I gave it a separate SSID to compare both channels and the inside techniccolor wifi router gives a better range out side than the EAP110-outdoor!
I'm sure it must be faulty, I've tried network cables with it connected directly to the power injector but no difference.
I've called TP-link but I just got a link to update the firmware - but it's current.
Any thoughts / help appreciated.

Could we pass the 20dbm output limit? Mine is same case, 6mts over land, 20Mhz bandwidth, 20dBm, ch 11, drops only 25mts in free aerial (sorry 4 my bad english)

Hi there, i have the same problem, the signal its to poor, the speed was a big disappointment, after 30 meters speed was down about 50%! My router(tenda) has stronger signal about 4-7 db more than tp link eap110 outdoor, at the same point on the mast over 6 meters from the ground.I think its a toy, not a powerfull outdoor access point.Really disappointment... TPLINK, make your acces point stronger and more friedly on set up-instruction manual!

I suggest to have a wifi analyzer to scan the signal like @claypot did, the result could help you confirm whether the unit is normal.

I made a lot of changes to the channels, to the location and height of the antenna, but unfortunately I did not make any improvement. The measurements were made with the wifi analyzer. What I understand is that the signal strength is weak.My home router is more powerful to every measurement.

6 meters is a little bit high. lower the installation height down to 2-3 meters pole and test the speed and signal.

It has been lowered to 4 meters above the ground, but its range is not changed, is there a solution to raise the power output above 20dB?

EAP110-Outdoor has transmit power no more than 20dBm for EU version(CE certified), and no more than 27dBm for US version (FCC certified).

I have the same issue with my EAP 110 outdoor. I removed the omnidirectional antennas and fitted 2 Yagi directional. I'm trying to get my internet across the street to a friend. Its less than 100 feet and its struggling. I have 150mbps internet but the most the access point transmits is 12 to 14mbps. I updated the firmware to 3.1. Before that I could only get 4 to 8 mbps on a speedtest.
If you find a solution I would be glad to hear it.
