AC500 + CAP300 / CAP300 Outdoor -> frequently AP-disconnects under load

Hardware Version :

Firmware Version :

ISP :

With 2 AC500 (FW 1.0.1 Build 20170706) in dual-link backup configuration and multiple CAP300 (FW 1.1.0) APs I get frequently disconnects from various accesspoints.
DHCP for both APs and clients is provided by an external service (pfsense)
[*]Most of the AP distribute 4 WPA2-PSK SSIDs with different VLANs.
[*]Load balancing is enabled, all values are default.
[*]Band Steering is also enabled, but this shouldn't have much effect with the CP300s
[*]Wi-Fi Roaming Features are both enabled

The problem seems to appear, when more than 8-9 clients are connected on a single AP. The problem exists with CAP300 and CAP3000 Outdoor.

After updating the CAP1750 to beta-firmware they didn't seem to have the problem anymore.

Is there anyone, who can help me?

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
Does CAP300/CAP3000 Outdoor disconnect from AC50 or client disconnect with CAPs?

It seems an similar issue which has been discussed in this post: http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?100279-AC50-timeout
If it's really an old issue, why don't they provide an official firmware ASAP?

do you have any CAP1750 which has the same issue and has been fixed with the beta firmware?

Maybe you can try to close these advanced functions and see if it gets better.

The APs disconnect from the AC500 -> Clients are then also affected, they loose connection and try to roam to another AP

For me it's very similar to the post you mentioned, I hoped there could at least be an Workaround for me.
The really ugly thing is, that some of the APs don't come up again after a couple of disconnects. The problem is therefore get's worse during the day.

There are only two of the CAP1750 in my Installation and yes after updating them to the beta firmware, they are working quite well.

I'll try and report.
-> I haven't seen any AP with more than 10 clients. Seems they restart or reconnect when more clients want to attach to the AP
-> Disabling the advanced features (load balancing, band steering, roaming) hasn't changed the beahvior
