Hi all,

I recently updated two of our EAP225 v1 AP's from FW 'EAP225(EU)_V1_160909' to 'EAP225(EU)_V1_170828'.
As well as the controller software, to enable the later guest portal features.

Issue #1:
First thing I noticed was the units are now reporting themselves as V2 units. I double checked - I only used V1 firmware.
Is this a known issue? I don't wan't warrentee issues.

Issue #2:
Both AP's now have stability issues. Where they were perfectly solid on 160909, they now require daily hard-resets (the reboot feature doesn't help), otherwise will ignore connection attempts.

I'm will be switching from PoE to discrete power feeds (to take advantage of the GB links), which may help with reliability. Though I can't see why it would have gotten worse with an update.

If there are any pointers, or known issues, i'll be greatful for your time.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hi,

1. For issue1: EAP225 v2 just change the web management VI, there is no hardware difference between EAP225 v1&v2, and EAP225 v1 &v2 use same firmware now. Since EAP225(EU)_V1_170828 is a v2 version firmware, so it will show v2 in EAP Controller. It is ok and does not effect the EAP225.
2. What's the software version of EAP Controller, I suggest you upgrade the latest version( 2.5.4) :

What's the authentication method you are using, WPA or portal? If possible, I suggest you reinstall the 170828 firmware again : https://static.tp-link.com/EAP225(EU&US)_V2_170828.zip

Thanks Tammy,

So even though the V1 and V2 firmware are labeled differently, it should be fine then.

We are using 2.5.4 already.
We use a mixed selection: WPA-Enterprise (x2), WPA-PSK (x1), Open [Portal] (x1). All work fine day-to-day and worked in 2.4 EAP Controller, but the EAP225 is what has become unreliable since the 170828 firmware.

I will try to reflash the units (cannot do via the controller - it will fail with 'already same version'), and trial their stability.

Dan.

P.S. - Powering the units via seperate PSU has not changed reliability.
