Hello guys,

I bought the router last week and I already set everything according to my network needs. I'm using one main ISP and one as a fail-over. The last LAN port 5 is going downstairs and is connected to a switch. The thing is that I want to separate the network so I've set different VLAN to this port. The main problem I'm facing is that the client PCs connected to this port (VLAN2) are also able to access the router management page. I want to block their access to it, but I couldn't find a way to do so. Normally some routers have access control that you can filter which port may connect to the router, but with this one it's a bit different. So is there a way to block the users connected to a certain LAN port or all LAN ports except one to access the router management page on 192.168.0.1? I want to be able to access it only from my main PC for example.

What's the hardware version? 480T+ indeed has the Access Control feature and it worth a try.

Hello fearthebeard the hardware verison of the router is V8. I was very surpriced because cheaper routers have these very simple options to filter the access to the router, but with this one I couldn't manage to make it work. I've tryed various settings through the access menu, but it didn't worked.

Firewall---->Access Control----->Access Rules to configure. You could post the screenshot and the requirement and maybe I can help.

You set nothing:eek:...

In short, you should configure 2 rules: the first entry is ALLOW and the second is DENY. Interface both are LAN.
Source: the first is 192.168.0.2/32 the second is 0.0.0.0/32
Destination: both are 192.168.0.1/32
Effective time both are all, of course. That's all.

I've tryed something like this, but it resulted in compleate deny of access to the hosts (Internet, lan connection etc.) I've even tryied different services. However I'll try to configure it again as you suggested.

Hello guys,

I've tried everything and I can't accomplish my goal. Even with Access control I've managed to restrict a PC to access everything except the router main page on 192.168.0.1. In the mean time a router that cost 15$ has an option to restrict the access to its page by MAC. This is getting ridiculous.

Didn't worked mate. No matter the settings the router main page is still visible from all clients in the network. It's getting frustrating because the other TP-Link wi-fi router for 15 bucks has an easy option to filter the access via MAC. I can't believe that this router lacks a simple option as that. If I knew it I would simply go for a Cisco router. Still probably have to consider selling this one. Even the TP-Link support was helpless with this...

This is a SMB router so you need some advanced setting. But I think the configuration is still simple cause I've talked to you all step by step. All right, you could also post what you have done for the access control and maybe I can help/
