Hi,

Recently I bought and installed 3 x EAP245. They are installed in different places of my house and connected to a Microtek router.
All other wired and wireless devices have good connections without any interruptions.

The only 2 devices having issues are 2 android Samsung phones. Ever couple of minutes the conectivity stops and only continues after 30 seconds.
Everything is configures standard, switch of as much features I could find. Update the AP's to the latest available firmware. Specified separate channels (1,6,11) and fixed IP addresses per AP.

When I go to the AP's in the configuration software I see a lot of TX errors. 26.49K, No Idea why that is.

Any ideas?

Omada Control Software interrupting EAP245 Connection
2018-03-20 17:11:05
I did some more investigation and checked the logging in the Omada Control Software.
Every 5 minutes, I see that all 3 EAP245, are getting disconnected.

So I started a ping from the server eap245. Once in a while I see 2 time outs on the ping.
I think that when the control software is communicating with the EAP units, this happens.

Most of the devices are not having a problem with this and just continue, but the Android devices are losing connection.
When home again I will switch of the Control software, to see if everything is getting stable.

Anybody having the same experience?

Yes, the same:

TP-Link support suggested changing the channels far apart, which gave the illusion of a fix but in fact also created connection reliability issues

How about the power supply of EAP245?

EAP245 need 802.11 'at' power supply, which power consumption is up to 30w. If you use 802.11'af' PoE (which power consumption is just up to 15w) to supply power for EAP245, it may cause power insufficient of EAP320 and bring unstable problems.

HI,

Check the control software again:

Every 5 min there is an disconnect
I think this is the cause of the mobile phones resetting, the connection

Hi, do you mean you are using standard PoE?
Standard PoE divides into 802.11 'af' and 802.11 'at' PoE, and EAP245 need 802.11 'at' PoE which power consumption is higher than 802.11 'af' PoE.

For one EAP I use the mains poer supply. For the other I use PoE from Netgear GS110TP. Each port can send 15.4W max. According to EAP245 Spec max power consumption is 12.7 W, and according to the Switch admin, it's only actually consuming 3.5 W.

So I conclude that power supply is not the issue.

Yeah, in my troubleshooting of my EAP245.... I noticed that it called for 802.3at POE, but, since I saw that it would only use at max 12.5W...thought it only needed 802.3af POE.  So, I had gotten an 802.3af POE injector that claims to beable to do up to 19.5 W.

I (just) replaced it with an 802.3at POE injector, but no difference.  But, guess I won't shell out for a POE meter to see if there's any issues in what its trying to pull....Unless 3.5W is too low for an injector to maintain regulation.

Meanwhile, I just noticed (in checking for new firmware, that there's a V3...the specs for it are quite different, and it uses a max of 12.3W and only requires 802.3af POE .... and it comes with a passive injector.

The Dreamer.
