Hallo,

on a new T1700G-28Q I have access over https, ssh and telnet but suddenly login by telnet fails. I can't type username and password - without any input the answer is "Login invalid":

---snipp
telnet 10.11.12.13
Trying 10.11.12.13...
Connected to 10.11.12.13.
Escape character is '^]'.

***************** User Access Login ********************

User:
Login invalid.

***************** User Access Login ********************

User:
Login invalid.

***************** User Access Login ********************

User:
Login invalid.
Connection closed by foreign host.
---snapp

Maybe after restart over https this error vanisch, but in production environment a break of some minutes is not a good idea.
What can I do?

with regards

I think maybe the problem only happens after multiple wrong username/password. Maybe you need to remember your password. ; )

No, it is in that way I wrote: I can't give any input. So I can't give a wrong password too. In the webfrontend and over ssh login is O.K.. After some days of mistake I try to change telnet-authentification over AAA (what I must use by ssh to get enable-admin), but with same result. with regards gigaliner

I'm seeing exactly the same thing here on my T177G-28Q It works fine for a while, then stops responding usefully to telnet connections.

T1700G-28TQ has the new firmware for version 3.0.

As I know, V1/V2 can upgrade to V3. Just try to upgrade to V3. Maybe it has solved the problem.

Ah, minor problem here - I'm on a T1700G-28TQ and the latest release firmware I can find is version

  T1700G-28TQ(UN)_V2_170608.

I've grabbed a beta build of

  2.0.1 Build 20180206 Rel.60432(Beta)

yesterday, as referenced in another post here, and I've been testing with that a bit. So far so good...

For some time on some firmware for Smart switches TP-Link made "security option" for telnet, so if you type wrong password 3 times, it will block telnet connections. Absurd, but some firmwares had this before. Moreover, T1700G v2 had problem with CPU Utilization after a week of work. I can say only about myself, that after some beta it works pretty good both with CPU and management hanging. I attach the latest one, which I had just in case.
