So i have a new customer that is installing a network, they are going to have about 233 wired ports they want hot. They are going to be sharing a 1GB fiber connection. They use the internet only, no servers or devices onsite. I was planing on installing 5 48 port switches with a pfsence router. Whats the best way to cross connect the switches together? I was thinking about using fiber but was not sure how to inter connect them so they dont bottleneck too much.

Hi

Firstly you need to confirm that your pfsence router can support 233 clients.

Then I recommend connecting as many switches as possible directly to the router. Reduce the number of devices passed through during data transmission.

So i am building the router, planning on a quad core Xeon, with 16gb DDR3 Ram, and a 32Gb SSD. I can add a couple of 4 port nics, to the machine, so have each port connect to each switch seperatly, instead of internconnect to each switch. I see. Thats a good idea.
