Anyone know?

So far I have gleaned the following

v1 old style case, has external power supply socket, says it complies with PoE at standard

v3 new style ribbed case, the product list includes an injector, actual product has a PoE ethernet port and another unpowered ethernet port (for bridging.

the latest firmware upgrades are interesting as the v3 offers Fast Roaming (802.11 k/v) but the v1 does not

Anyone know if the internal performance, features, capabilities are different?

EAP245_v3 is new hardware version of EAP245_v1, and it has optimized the hardware/software function of EAP245_v1. Such as EAP245_v3 supports 802.11k/v fast roaming, Mu-MIMO, the performance of EAP245_v3 is better than EAP245_v1.

For more information of EAP245_v3, you can refer to : https://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/cat-5692_EAP245.html#specifications

Jonas - according to this FAQ from 2-13-2018 it says the EAP225 and EAP245 will get 802.11k,v support: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2097.html

"So far TP-Link CAP1200 supports Fast Roaming (802.11k) feature. EAP225 and EAP245 will support 802.11k and 802.11v in the near future."

Is that no longer the case? I'm just wondering if I need to get rid of the 5 EAP245_v1's I have...

Thanks!

The chipsets are updated in EAP225 V3 and EAP245 V3, I don't think the vendors will put more resource to update the older version. It is time evolute to MU-MIMO and 11k/v roaming now if you got a lot of Apple devices in your network. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208753
