Moving to a new controller

Hi Guys,

Recently my server (Ubuntu 14.014) that host my EAP Controller broke down. Now I'm setting a new one but I cant `Adopt` the APs since it has been adopted by the previous server. Any solution for this? I cant seem to find the old forum since it has been migrated here.

Thanks.

If you have a backup, just import it in the new controller. If you have no backup, then you need to set up the controller/APs from scratch. IMHO there is no other way than doing a factory reset on the APs unless you did note the device passwords assigned by the old controller.

But give it a try - the default device username/password a fresh controller assigns to adopted EAPs is the same as the initial username/password for the controller login set in the wizard.

After auto adopt failed, click again, it will prompt and you can input the AP password manually. You have to remember the old password, otherwise, you cannot adopt them until reset.

Login to AP via SSH and factory reset.

Logging in via SSH requires knowledge of the device password. If you know the device password, you can adopt the APs in a new controller without having to reset them to factory defaults.

Thank you! Indeed the password was the same as the old EAP Controller's password. Now, my only problem is to identify the APs based on their MACs. Lot of work but I think I can start from here.

Hmm. I guess I'm wrong, some APs are not using the old Controller password. :( I guess I have to reset this one by one.

If you have a backup file of old controller, then just restore in new controller. And then the new controller will automatically adopt all APs and done all settings, you will get a same controller and network with old one without any other configurations.

Ps: Controller v3.0.2 supports Auto Backup functions.
