Omada controller map not shown when on coverage toggle
Hello All I have a small issue here.
After I uploaded my map and place the ap on it. if I select the coverage the entire map will be covered by the signal and wont show the map. anyone knows how to fix this ?

Hi,
From the screenshot it seems that you can choose "Details" and "Coverage" at the same time, it is abnormal.
What's the version of your Omada Controller? We recommend you to upgrade it to the latest version or re-install the Controller.

Just tested
Same issue on Firefox 67.0 (64-bit) also on EDGE
Omada linux Version: 3.1.4
Does the map image needs any specific settings on the jpg side? png should work too right?

I guess you havent set your scale correctly so it is covering the whole map. Either that or you have a very powerful EAP :)
Mine behaves the same where the coverage map is on top of the map itself.
@forrest I can confirm my map will also allow me to show coverage and details at the same time. I am on latest oc200 firmware 1.1.1

Showing coverage and either details or labels on the map is normal. It was so in previous versions (e.g. screeny below from v2.7.0) all the time.
Showing MAC addresses with hyphens instead of colons between octets is abnormal.

You guys rock!
The scale was right, but this is only a 2 bedroom apartment so yes the signal opacity is to strong and covers the entire map.
Looks like we might need more map settings like in ubiquity where you can add thinkness to walls and that will automatically impact on the displayed signal making it more real.
Is there a feature request form ?

I sometimes use WiFi Solver FDTD for calculation of the best place to mount an AP:
See https://www.apkhere.com/app/com.jasmcole.wifisolver. It takes into account obstacles such as walls, doors, windows, knows different materials and computes reflections of those obstacles, but it does so only for theoretical RF emission based on your input data.
However, it is very useful to convince hotel owners to not place APs in the housekeeping room with a metal door as a customer once did.
For real-world measurements I create heatmaps using NetSpot - this one is for a TL-WDR4300 SOHO device running a customized OpenWRT firmware with EIRP ≤ 20dBm:
If you ask me, I would prefer a visualization of real-life measurements of the client's position and signal strength as seen by the AP in OC's coverage view rather than an AP's (theoretical) signal strength resp. signal propagation.
