T1600G-28TS can upgrade the V2 firmware, I have a V2 beta firmware maybe you can have a try.

I will explain about beta. As I understand, this beta will not just solve your problem, as you still need to configure speed/duplex of your SFP port to be 1000/Auto or 1000/Full. It depends on the other switch. You just couldn't change Duplex mode before on official firmware. One of these 2 options will work. 1000/Full Duplex or 1000/Auto Duplex, just try each of this.

And yeah, you can just use V3 firmware for your switch also.

I remember that T1600G-28TS V1 cannot use the V3 firmware.
