EAP225 Outdoor initial setup for repeater mode
I am trying to set this up to repeat a wifi signal into my home, but cannot seem to figure out how to get it set up. When i try connecting to the network I just get "connecting...." over and over on my tablet. I have the Omada app installed, but of course it cant see it without being connected first.
I also tried the web browser 192.168.1.1 but was unable to load of course.

@Robert1966, an EAP cannot work as a wireless repeater, it is just an access point.
However, you can always extend an existing wireless network using an access point.
To do so, you just set the same wireless settings in the EAP as in your main AP (same SSID, same wireless mode, same encryption key).
Of course you also need to connect the EAP via cable to the same router your main AP is connected to or – in case the main AP is a wireless router – you just connect the EAP via cable to this wireless router. This allows for basic roaming and it extends your existing wireless network even much more reliable than a wireless repeater could do.
This way, you use several APs (Basic Service Sets) to form an Extended Service Set which basically means you use the same (E)SSID:
But the thread opener tried to wirelesly extend an outdoor WISP network.
This can't be done with an EAP225 (and whoever told you so is terribly wrong).

EAP225-Outdoor does not support repeater mode. It's just an AP. However, it supports meshed networks, meaning you could mesh it with another EAP225 or EAP225-Outdoor (a mesh is much better than just repeating, it avoids all drawbacks a repeater has).
BTW: there is an own forum for Omada products.

i dont know anything about mesh. I am simply trying to get a better signal from the xfinitywifi signal in my home, as it gets pretty weak.
You're saying this thing can't repeat that signal? the Q&A on amazon said it can

Then the Amazon Q&A is wrong (as it happens very often on Amazon).
EAP225-Outdoor has no repeater mode, you won't be able to connect it to any other WLAN as a repeating client. You can only mesh it to another EAP225 which needs to be connected by wire to your xfinity thing in your home.
However, you could connect the EAP225-Outdoor directly by wire to your xfinity, which makes more sense if you just want to use a single EAP225-Outdoor rather than a meshed network.

it's a wifi signal from xfinity for customers. there is no hardwiring. What would u recommend as an outdoor repeater then? Amazon wants me to select an exchange item
when i search outdoor repeater, amazon keeps giving me https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-CPE210-300Mbps-dual-polarized-directional/dp/B00P4JKQGK/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=outdoor+repeater&qid=1566525378&s=electronics&sr=1-3
will that work? or is that just another simple access point?

CPE210 is for directional links, it has a directional antenna with 65º antenna beam width. This means that clients need to be inside this angle.
If you want an omni antenna (360º as EAP225-Outdoor has), check out WBS210 (wireless base station) with TL-ANT2410MO (antenna). This antenna covers 360º and is well suited to serve mobile devices over near distances. WBS210 is able to repeat an exisitng WLAN. However, it's more expensive than EAP225-Outdoor.

ive just bought the EAP225 because I wanted to extend my existing network to our external seating area.
i read up on the product and bought it because it read as if you can extend your network using it (a repeater)
but I've set it up but can only do this as a stand alone unit ,and not a reapter........
spent hours trying to get this working.
any idea what's the best way
I want the same network indoors as outdoors and don't want to re-connect every time I go from my existing network to the eap225

Hi @R1D2 (and others),
I'm using a deco m9 plus. And want to buy an outdoor wifi solution.
If I set the eap 225 with the same SSID:
* I suppose this solution has a different IP-network (range). To have the same IP range I better can use the deco's in a tupperware case outside?
* what about interference? In case the device is in range of both, does it switch a lot?

1. If you connect the EAP225-Outdoor with the same network the Deco are connceted to, both will fall into the same network IP range.
2. This depends on the client device. If it decides to roam, it will connect to the AP with best signal quality, but it won't »flap« between the two usually.

@R1D2 That sounds promissing. I've a bunch of m9, but the reception outside is not very well. We have a pretty big area around our house (100 meter). Do you think it is possible to wire the EAP 225 to one of the satellites (that uses a ethernet backhaul) in the garage and buy a couple of eap's that are meshed with eachother, and all use the same IP address range of the main deco (192.168.68.*)
