When should we expect an update for OC200?

 

Latest firmware of EAP225-Outdoor V1 says "Recommended Controller Software Version: Omada Controller v3.2.x or above"

But the latest firmware of OC200 still bundle Omada Controller 3.1.13.

What will happen if I update my EAP225 to latest version when my OC200 is still using Controller 3.1.13 and not 3.2.x, as recommended controller to be used against EAP225?

It works as usual, but new features in the firmware can't be used. For example: I use a bunch of EAP225 with firmware v2.5.0 connected to an Omada controller v2.7.0, so I can't neither use new mesh functions of the EAP nor bind the controller to the cloud (which is not needed in this case since the controller itself runs in our cloud).

 

Regarding OC200 firmware update: I think TP-Link is working on this, they usually do intense tests to ensure a smooth upgrade path.

Omada Controller 3.2.1 and Controller 3.1.13 have similar features, we only fixed some little bugs on the Controller 3.2.1 version. And the most significant difference is that Controller 3.2.1 can manage up to 1500 EAPs. That is to say, if you want to manage about 1500 EAPs, you have to use the Controller 3.2.1. If you only want to manage several EAPs, then both Controller 3.2.1 and Controller 3.1.13 are same. 

 

Therefore, don't worry about upgrading the firmware of EAP to the latest version. There will not be any incompatible issue to Controller 3.2.1 and Controller 3.1.13. As for the firmware of OC200, we are making it and we will release it in the next few days. (Normally the firmware of OC200 will be later than Omada Controller software).
