Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.1 Build 20191022 Rel. 41405

Hi,

I am extending my WiFi outdoors on my hobby farm, and I am having a problem with my EAP-225 outdoor. It keeps disconnecting from the network, the light starts slowly flashing green, and I am not sure I understand why. I have a Synology rt2600ac as my primary router, with mesh throughout the rest of the indoors. I wanted to be able to get to my barn with outdoor connectivity. I have the EAP225-outdoor wired to the OC200 (I want remote access to check on things while I'm traveling). Right now the connection is TPLINK unmanaged switch--> 100-foot cat 6--> EAP injector--> 25 foot cat 6-->Waterproof coupler-->6 foot outdoor cat7-->EAP225 outdoor. I am not sure if i am missing a setting in either my Synology router or in the configuration of the EAP225-Outdoor. I have set a static IP and also tried dynamic and seem to disconnect every hour or so. Looking in the controller log it seems like it goes back to the fall back IP address for some reason and then disconnects. I do not see any conflicting IP addresses on my network. I don't know if I should be looking for a setting or maybe I am doing the static IP address wrong, or if I have hardware failing somewhere. I have had this set up for a couple of weeks, and it worked well at first but now it seems to be disconnecting.

@forrest I was finally able to run a test for a few days with a new cable direct to the EAP. It still has some RX packets dropped on LAN but it no longer disconnects at all. Its been connected solid for 3 days now with no disconnects at all. I am going to chalk it up to a bad cable. As for the RX packets dropped on LAN, i guess it could be either the 100 foot cable run. I may re-run all the cable with sheilded TP to see if it helps at all.

Thank you for the help

@Sony224422

From your description, the EAP225-Outdoor will disconnect from the OC200.

When the EAP225-Outdoor disconnects from the OC200, does it connect to the OC200 itself? Normally the EAP will be connected again automatically.

There is a "Waterproof coupler" in your network, I am afraid that the connection of the EAP device is not good, that's why it will disconnect from the OC200. Please check the connection of the EAP.

Please check if when the EAP disconnects from the OC200, how about the IP address? If the EAP cannot get IP normally, it will disconnect from the OC200.

@forrest

Thank you for the response. It seems like the EAP disconnects from the network, and when looking at it in the OC it shows it as a disconnected AP. The status light on the switch also turns off, like the port turns off. If I unplug the cable at the injector and plug it back in it will come back online. I am also wondering about the water proof coupler, I bought a new cable to make a straight run to the EAP from the injector. The OC is plugged into another port on the same switch, and I can always access that. I have switched ports on the switch to rule that out as well. The Static IP Address is 192.168.1.57.

From your description, it is truly that the EAP doesn't connect to the switch. Now you have changed a new cable, if you have other questions, please tell us.
