EAP245 V3 slow speeds after running for few hours
Hey Guys,
I purchased 3 EAP245 V3 couple weeks ago. I ceiling mounted them all , one on each floor of my house. I get awesome speeds for few hours of them being powered on, say 3-4 hours sometimes less. Speeds I get in the first few hours are between 500-600Mbps on my pixel 3xl and after few hours it drops down to under 200Mbps. Between this drop there is no change in how spectrum looks using wifi analyzer. Same amount of wifi signals using same channels, then my question is why I get awesome speeds before and it really sucked after few hours when there is no change in the spectrum or devices connected to the access point. All the AP's are set for Auto Channel on 2.4 and 5GHz. I am not too worried about 2.4 but 5Ghz really bothers me.
I have run various wifi analyzers and can see couple other neighbours wifi using the same channel but not overlapping as they are all 80Mhz. Their signal strength is ofcourse weak since they are far. I easily get between 40-50dBI on all my devices around the house. I can also see large amount of Tx dropped packets for each Access point.
The ping/latency averages between 15-20ms with great speeds (500-600Mbps) in the first few hours of it being powered on. After 3-4 hours , ping averages around 100-200ms and speeds under 150Mbps. I am closely monitoring the spectrum using wifi analyzers and I dont see much change before and after. So it's definately an issue with these AP's
I sent a support request but never got any response. I can still return the AP's back to amazon but would like to keep them as they work good when they do. I hope there is somewhere a firmware bug and could be fixed easily. Please advice.
Thanks

@sgnb Running it in a VM on my server. But can close off the controller and the speeds are still bad so I know its unrelated to the actual controller.
I did change out my ethernet cable and so far it has not happend in about a month though ever since doing that.

Still trying to track this one down. Questions for others who are having these issues:
How many wifi networks do you have configured within the eap devices? More than 2 on the 2.4GHz band?
Do you have any high-bandwidth always-on devices on the network i.e. high-definition survaillance cameras?

@HPad but in your case it seems like it was a cabling issue? after you tried a different ethernet cable the problem went away?

I am having the same problem. I have only one AP that runs in standalone mode, without any controller. Speed drops after few hours without any explanations. Reboot fixes that but in a hour or two it goes back to slow speed again... Getting feeling that EAP245 firmware is buggy or it has some sort of overheating issue. I am happy that bought only one and not 3.

@AlexS20 do you have any wifi security cameras? like the wyze cam?

Yes, 1 Wyze v1 and one Wyze v2. Do you think it is because of that?

@AlexS20 do you use the RTSP firmware with it or fanghacks firmware on the wyze cameras?
I think there's something within the TPLink firware that doesn't like always-on wifi security cameras. Maybe it's the high bitrate, I don't know
I ended up using a separate wifi router just for my wifi security cameras, an old device that my ISP gave me. It's sad really, that a cheap ISP-provided residential router works better than these expensive TPLink routers (which are advertised as "enterprise grade")

I see, ok, going to try to turnoff all cams for a few days and see if it changes anything
Thanks for the hint

@AlexS20 Try that and then come back to let us know. Maybe if enough of us gather evidence of the problem then TPLink will investigate it
