Slow Speed Tests on EAP225
I recently swapped by EAP225 in hope that my wifi speed test would improve. I did for one day I was getting 300mpbs on an s8+ and 290 on an iPhone 11 pro, however, I normally get 100-150 my speed is rated at 300mpbs which testes at 350 from ethernet. Use to always get 200mbps + every time, when I was only subscribed to 200mbps with Comcast. Could there be wifi interference issues?
I use custom Cat 6 , cables I tried pre-made cat 6, pre-made cat 5e; there was no noticeable improvement.
Should I consider setting the QoS different than default I also use a RN-600 router.

There are many environmental parameters which can influence throughput of a wireless network.
However, every time this issue comes up here, it turns out as either incorrect measurements or bad throughput of the client device's NIC or the router. See post #5 in this thread about meaningful measurement methods, best WiFi settings and the corresponding throughput which can be achieved with an EAP225.

What country are you in? Current firmware (in the USA) is 2.7.0 for the EAP225V3.
Which speed tests are you running? Internet, e.g. Ookla, SpeedSmart, Fast.com? Or internal iPerf3?
For 802.11ac 5.8GHz 80MHz 2x2 clients, when near the AP, you should get up to ~450-550 Mbit/sec DL and UL. This is what I get on my iPhone XS Max using SpeedSmart on my Verizon Fios Gigabit. I generally get ~930-960 Mbit/sec over Ethernet. Ookla speedtests vary widely depending on the server.
Over iPerf speeds will be higher ~500-650 Mbit/s.
Be sure to:
1) use separate SSD's for 2.4 and 5.8 radios
2) disable airtime fairness
3) Set the 5.8GHz channel manually (there are only 2 which are 80MHz wide)
4) use a BW setting of either 80 or 20/40/80 -- my EAP's tend to "work better" on the 20/40/80 MHz setting for some reason.
If you're still seeing slow speeds, restart the EAP and test again.

@fastlane Try to disable mesh if you dont use it (it enabled by deafult). ther is a bug in firmware that switch access point from 80 to 40MHz bandwith if mesh is enabled.
or contact TP-LINK for a beta to fix this issue if you use mesh.

@JSchnee21 I just installed the EAP225V3 at my cousins last night. I am in the US.. I used Ookla and Fast.com and the results were 5-7MB on a 300MB connection. using firmware version 3. The SSIDs are not the same. I cannot find the settings for airtime fairness?? I also cannot find the settings to change the Mhz.. where do I find these BW settings? I looked all over the app last night to find these settings.. Do I need to use a computer instead of an IOS device to find them?

Hi MikeBCT,
in order to do fine-tuning you can either use the EAP's built-in web UI or the Omada Controller, which gives you even more functions.
The controller is available for free for Windows and Linux or running on an embedded system, the OC200, which is not that expensive.
If you don't want to use Omada Controller, you can set the channel width and many other parameters directly in the web UI of your EAPs.
Regarding WiFi bandwidth of an EAP225, the results below show what you can achieve under ideal conditions in the 5 GHz band (no interferences, 80 MHz channel width, free line of sight between the mobile device and the EAP etc.).
Note that these measurements concern the WLAN alone, no network bottlenecks, no routing overhead (NAT), no Internet latencies and no web server response times:
Throughput will decrease significantly if there are any obstacles, interferences, signal reflections or elephants in the way between a mobile device and the EAP.
Other causes for bad throughput can be wrong settings (i.e. if WMM is disabled), bad encryption key ciphers (i.e. TKIP), weak network cards in mobile devices or weak antennas in mobile devices.
This is the Ookla test. Note the different results for different servers. Of course, Internet throughput (from clients to a web server elsewhere) will not reach the full 645 Mbps an EAP225 is capable of (Internet uplink is asymmetric, this means splitted DL/UL bandwidths):

Just wondered how did it go please?
I have just purchased 2 EAP245's, a EAP225-Outdoor and an OC200 Controller.
I set up the OC200 and one of the EAP245's and my speed tests (speedtest.net) are half of my internet speed. 52Mbps when I was getting 107Mbps on my Tenda box.
I thought it was just my internet but when I put the old Tenda back I immeadiatly got back to the 107Mbps speed test, so that ruled that out...
Based in the UK so internet speeds are not that great!
Hoping you got things working with your issue and can advise what helped..... :)
