I am using Pfsense router + hp procurve 1810 switch with vlans. During initial setup I connected EAP245 AP to vlan60 and assigned 10.0.6.xx as static ip for AP. Then added two SSIDs with vlan50 and vlan60. Then plugged in the AP in trunk port of  switch. I could see both SSIDs handing out IPs from vlan50 and vlan60 without issues. But I am unable to access 10.0.6.xx to reach the web management page of AP, even though my laptop is on the same subnet with static IP of 10.0.6.xx.

 

I tried to setup managment vlan but still won't work. Ping from management vlan returns "host unreachable", but AP continues to work without issues, when plugged in trunk port. Is there anything I am doing wrong?

 

FYI, pfsense is configured to allow communcations of hosts within vlan60 in 10.0.6.xx.

 

In summary, when connected to trunk port, I am unable to access web managed using AP's IP 10.0.6.xx. But when i plug the AP into access port of vlan60, I am able to access webgui

 

I have been struggling with this issue for almost a week now. Any help is appreciated greatly.

sounds like you do not have the management vlan properly configured on the AP as it works untagged.

 

Management -> Mangement Access and make the Management VLAN be 60.

I did try it but still couldn't reach the web gui.

 

I am gonna try it again, may be with a reboot to ensure changes to Management vlan gets applied in AP

Update: I tried the whole process again but started with access port in vlan50 and then added vlan60 and moved the ap to trunk port and then changed managment vlan to 50, and finally success.

 

I am not sure what I did wrong last time but the only change is I started with vlan50 instead of vlan60. I will continue with other settings and I don't expect any issues past this phase.
