Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: latest

I am trying to atatch a second AP to the 2nd ethernet port on the EAP245 1750 and it is not showing up on the cloud controller/network. Here is the order of things:

Router

TL-SG1218MPE 16 port POE switch

EAP245 1750

POE injector

EAP225-Outdoor

I've tested the cables and they al check out 100%.  Is there something I need to configure to get that bridge port working this way? Is this configuration support?

Thank you,

Hi @Dusing,

I've often wondered this myself.  If you connect it directly to your PoE switch, and adopt it into Omada first, and then connect it to the bridgeport on the 245 (w/additional midspan injector) does Omada see it then?  Can you ping it?

I've searched the internet and not rally found anyone who is successfully using it, or knows exactly what it is for or how it works (hub, switch)?  Only for load balancing (across two gigabit lines) with a trunked pair of ports on the switch?

@JSchnee21 Thank you, I'm going to just add a switch I guess.

Hi @Dusing,

Why not just run another line from your TL-SG1218MPE 16 port POE switch?

Gotcha,

Yes, you're also right at the end of the 100m limitation.  Also note that PoE has a ~50-60m limitation.

My understanding is that it should just work, though VLANs may present issues. Somebody else suggested connecting that EAP to the POE switch first to get it identified and added. Try that also, in case the EAP245 blocks discovery past itself. I would also open a support case with tp-link.

Problem solved, baically a false alarm.

The EAP225 outdoor I have is defective, I switched it out with a different unit and it worked as originaly expected. Last thing I suspected, both are brand new.

So yes the 2nd ethernet port works as a proper bridge as one would expect.  Thank you.
