@R1D2

Can I install omada-sdn-controller_4.1.5-2_all.deb and omada-controller_3.2.10-3_all.deb over omada-sdn-controller_4.1.5-1_all.deb and omada-controller_3.2.10-2_all.deb without losing the settings?

Thanks

Hi @unmesh, yes, this works. dpkg will not delete the old database during removal of old files, so settings are retained.

Hi there,

Is this package still on ftp.rent-a-guru.de?  If so, what is the exact package name as it won't let me do a listing (Unable to build data connection: Connection refused).

THanks,

chili

1. Yes.

2. Its name is: omada-sdn-controller-4.2.4_1_all.deb

3. As I wrote in the first post and several times later in this thread: you won't see any files in the /private directory because it's a private directory. Just go on and download the file using a standard ftp command line client.

Could you ask for my IP to be allowed on the FTP please, i get a message sayign my IP is banned and i have no idea why.

Could we also perhaps have the file available via the TP-Link site or another HTTPS site or is FTP the only way?

What about github or similar so we can use curl or gitclone?

If you are able to send me the file directly i can create you a drop link to send it to me if that helps, or anyone else?

No, it says:

501 OPTS: UTF8 not understood

as well as:

500 Illegal PORT command

Use ASCII charset and passive mode, both are standard modes in FTP. I have no idea what your FTP client thinks is a valid FTP protocol.

As for:

550 omada-sdn-controller-4.2.4_1_all.deb: No such file or directory

please cd to /private before trying to get the file (thanks, elmado!).

If your FTP client sends too many requests, i.e. it is not you who sends commands, but some lousy programmed FTP in a web browser, your system will be locked for 12 hours. Just wait that long and – as so often described – use a regular FTP command line client, then it won't happen. Unfortunately I have enough attempts by script kiddies to crash the FTP server, hence the auto-ban is necessary.

Could we also perhaps have the file available via the TP-Link site or another HTTPS site or is FTP the only way?

I really don't understand why you don't want to use FTP, which is the protocol for file transfers. This FTP server is now running for a bit more than 25 years and has since then served zillions of downloads seamlessly.

Sorry, I don't use Microsoft's github at all and there are very good reasons to not distribute software packages via HTTP in times of automatic scanning and downloading of whole web sites by robots.

I pay for the traffic, so please let me choose the way I distribute files. It is not that difficult to use a standard FTP client such as the one which comes with every Linux.
