A whhile back, I purchased 3 EAP225 outdoor units which I'm trying to setup a Mesh network with them as they'll cover a large area. More recently, I purchased a EAP245. I'd like to configure the 245 as the uplink and the three 225 (outdoor)s as the downlinks (downlinks to be connected wireless although it does not show them all wireless yet in the video). I was under the impression that all EAPs can be configured to Mesh networking but as you can se form the video below, it appears the EAP245 cannot do mesh. Am I wrong? If so, how can I get it to do mesh with the other EAPs? I'm a newbie and an old guy so please be detailed as this stuff does not come easy to me.

@Barry1963 The EAP245 does not support Mesh (yet). There is some unofficial beta firmware which apparently adds that functionality.

Fae (I think it was Fae, could have been Jonas) recently indicated in another thread that new, official, EAP245V3 SDN firmware would be released with MESH support within a few days to a week.

 

Fingers crossed.

That's good news that it's in t he works and soon FW may be released. 

 

Does anyone know if the EAP225 (non-outdoor) currently supports Mesh? I have one of trhose too (new in the box).

Hi @Barry1963,

 

Yes, the EAP225V3 supports MESH now.  I have two EAP225V3's and two EAP225-OutDoors.  My OD units are connected only via MESH to my indoor EAP225's.

 

Please note that Omada server software, SDN server software, or OC-200 is required to configure the MESH and it is recommended to keep it running to support dynamic MESH reconfiguration and Fast Roaming.

OK very good. Thank you. I may replace the EAP245 with the 225 for now. Hoping it will work ok outdoors too (even though it's not meant for that). It shouldn't  ever get wet as it will be mounted under the house's eve. Just hopoing it will withstand Canada's cold winters (same with the 225-outdoor versions).
