Model: EAP110-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.20.0 Build 20200511 Rel. 33388

Greetings!

I would like to ask why is that my tp link eap110 outdoor always encounter high channel utilization as shown on the picture. I tried changing my channel from Auto to 1,6,11 but still, after few minutes it will go back having high utilization. and it affects my clients that are connected to the eap110 outdoor. this just happened this week and i don't know what to do.  btw i tried searching the net but nothing change. (please excuse my wrong grammar).

@CHASER,

high channel utilization means that there are many WiFi devices around, what is not unusual outdoors.

BTW: you run the EAP with 20/40 MHz channel width. 40 MHz causes the EAP to acquire 8 WiFi channels at once, thus the EAP itself contributes to high channel utilization.

I recommend to set a fixed 20 MHz channel width for the 2.4 GHz band.

Hi @CHASER,

I'd also definately recommend the 20MHz channel width.  Also, I have noticed on multiple occasions when checking the channel utilization of my EAP's the first one or two readings may be erroneously high.  Not sure if this is a bad reading, or just seeing the burst of traffic when the Omada client queries the AP for its info.  Often by the second or third reading, it quiets down.  But mine don't do it all the time.

If it turns out you truly have a lot of neighbor interference on channels 1, 6, and 11.  Cross-check with a tool like inSSIDER or similar.  Or multiple such Wifi network scanning tools for Android.  You can also try using channels 3 and 9.  It's not generally recommended since these channels do have some overlap with 1 & 6, and 6 & 9 respectively, but depending on the signal strength from the neighbors they might perform a little better.

Your best bet though, would be to move to 5.8GHz.  Generally speaking, this spectrum is much less crowded (e.g. EAP225 / 225-OutDoor.).
