Model: CPE220
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 2.2.2

Hello,

I bought 2 CPE220 V3

I setup the first one in Access Point Mode and I got internet and even if I connect it back to the laptop I can access the fallback ip 192.168.0.254

Now on the other side I use the second one as Repeater and I lock to AP (the first antenna)

All of a sudden I dont have access to fallback IP.

I disabled antiviruses and firewalls I even use different PC and Ubuntu linux...no access to it.

However it connects to the internet I get the proper IP from the DHCP server on the other side and I am able to access the management page from the the IP that the DHCP server gave to the antenna.

Why I dont have access to the fallback ip 192.168.0.254 when I connect the repeater to the laptop ?

I did the same with a CPE210 V3.4 and I have access to the management page on 192.168.0.254

this is very weird.

Can you please advice?

thanks

Dear @NewTeks,

After we configure the Fallback IP with 192.168.0.254, the CPE will use 192.168.0.254 only when it fails to find the DHCP server.

I setup the first one in Access Point Mode and I got internet and even if I connect it back to the laptop I can access the fallback ip 192.168.0.254

When you connect it back to the laptop, the CPE is disconnected from the main router (DHCP Server) while the laptop is configured with static IP 192.168.0.x, thus you can access the first CPE with the fallback IP 192.168.0.254.

Why I dont have access to the fallback ip 192.168.0.254 when I connect the repeater to the laptop ?

After you configure the second CPE, it is connected to the network and obtained IP address from the DHCP Server, in this case, the fallback IP won't work, we have to find its IP address from the DHCP Server to access the management page.

If you don't want to check the IP address every time when you want to access the management page of the CPE, it's suggested to set the CPE with a Static IP in the same IP subnet as your main network. For example, the IP address range of the DHCP Server is 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.200, then set the CPE with a unique Static IP such as 192.168.1.254, 192.168.1.253...
