Omada Controller oc200 / TL-R605 (DHCP and VLAN's problem)
Omada Controller oc200 / TL-R605 (DHCP and VLAN's problem)
I had big problem when I configure AP's to work with oc200 and TL-R605 (using manual IP, mask, gateway and DNS addresses).
In this configuration I used tp-link switches but not dedicated for Omada. With my old router/firewall everything worked fine.
With TL-R605/oc200 clients only receive IP address from controller/router in VLAN's when AP's is configured to have automatic DHCP.
If you change this to your manual settings, DHCP don't pass IP to clients.
After this, if you even change back from manual to automatic DHCP settings - still are not working.
Finally,
After I deleted interface profile for VLAN, and add it again, AP started working with random IP numbers from LAN (of course AP's must be in automatic DHCP mode)
Maybe somebody find this helpful...

I have the same problem.
If I configure the router with the OC200 the VLANs it works.
But if I want to configure the TL-R605 manually (without the OC200) the same thing happens to me.
VLANs do not assign DHCP and even if I put manual IPs in the clients, the internet does not work.
I have tried to follow your steps: configure the AP in DHCP, delete the VLAN profile and recreate it but it does not worked for me.
Is there a step I'm doing wrong?
I trust that future firmware updates will solve it.

Hi,
If it is not a problem reset AP and TL-R605 to factory settings, and try again with automatic DHCP settings.
I don't remember for sure, but in standalone mode TL-R605 don't have interfaces (what is a big issue) and have only one interface - LAN

Unfortunately it doesn't work. I have reset both the TL-R605 and the EAP225 and configured again in DHCP without success. In the EAP I create two SSIDs. SSID1 without VLAN and works without problem. SSID2 with VLAN200. The EAP is connected to port 4 of the TL-R605 with VLAN200 port 4 TAG. With this configuration it does not work. If I connect the EAP to port 4 of another router that I have (TL-ER6120) with the same configuration VLAN200 port 4 TAG it works perfectly. I think it is a firmware problem. It does not assign DHCP in the VLAN nor does it browse even if you put the IP on the clients manually. Thank you for helping. I have tried to configure the TL-R605 with the OC200 and it works but not in stand alone mode.

@David11 Hi,
I think, in standalone mode you may configure only one vlan on every ports
i hope they change this. Im not shure it working with many vlans but try this:
try to change VLAN pvid on LAN configuration (TL-R605) to VLAN1 (1)
and change port config on switch port connected to TL-R605 to this:
switch port connected to TL-R605
---------------------------------------
vlan1 - PVID1 (untagged)
vlan200 (tagged)
switch connected to EAP
---------------------------------------
vlan1 - PVID1 (tagged or untagged depends of your EAP vlan management config )
vlan200 (tagged)
of course you have DHCP pool only on LAN (VLAN1)

@David11 I had the same challenge while trying to configure vlan on the R605 and EAP225, I noticed that wireless clients couldn't get ip addresses. The R605 Web Gui has no feature for assigning ip subnets while creating vlans. Maybe a future firmware upgrade will add this or it is TP-LINK's marketing strategy to get you to use the Omada controller

@RonNaija yeah I'm not the only one having these problems. Glad I didn't get rid of my old wireless router. Waiting for the fix.

Having the same issues with the TL-R605 using vlans. Only vlan 1 has access to the wan interface. Other vlans do not. The same exact configuration works perfect on the older TL-R600. I understand the solution is to use an Omada controller, but this should work stand-alone, hoping they fix it with future firmware.

I have written to support and this is what they answer me: Thank you for contacting TP-Link technical support. The ER7206 and R605 use the same software mechanism, which means that neither of them can create multiple VLANS in independent mode. The only option is to create a VLAN interface, so that each VLAN is associated with one interface. The new firmware for the ER7206 and R605 will be released in the second quarter of this year. We continue to recommend that you use the Omada Controller to configure a VLAN interface on the ER7206 and R605. If you still prefer to use router-independent mode, we can ask our development department to create a beta firmware as soon as possible. In this way, the possibility to create a VLAN interface will exist even in router independent mode. However, please note that as a beta version of firmware, you may experience some issues. Although rigorous testing is completed when we release the beta software, there may still be unknown issues. We cannot guarantee performance and stability. To be on the safe side, we highly recommend that you use the Software Controller to manage those devices. I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

A new firmware will be available soon to support assigning IP subnets for multiple VLANs in standalone mode.
TP-Link support said it will be officially released by the end of this month, they sent me the new R605 firmware and it works perfectly. If you need it, check for this link, https://we.tl/t-vobzPMaHUh
