Hi all,

I'm wondering if I need to spin up a dedicated Omada SDN VM running Debian Jessie so I can upgrade from Omada 3.1.5 to the 4.2.x SDN version to run my EAP225s, and ideally get the rest of the network managed as well at home.  I'm really looking to make deploying VLANs and such at home easier.

 

I see that the current version of Omada SDN 4.2.x doesn't support MongoDB 4.x at all, but that's all that Debian Buster has available right now, even installing it from the MongoDB.org repos. 

 

Any suggestions on what's the best path forward?

@l8gravely Just add the Debian Jessie repos to your list and it should pull the older version of mongo just fine.

@matt25 Thanks, I was leery of doing that, since I know the older versions are really old.  It would be nice if TP-Link would interate a bit faster, since even Debian Buster isn't cutting edge by any means.

@l8gravely Well... I ended up installing a new Debian Stretch (9.x) system on an old APU2 I had kicking around, and now I've got Omada v4.2.4 up and running, but it's not seeing my two EAP225s in my home network.   I'm sure I'll need to upgrade them or something to get them working properly.

 

It would be nice of TP-Link would do a better job of upgrading the software infrastructure here, and maybe even support a mix of old and new EAPs on the same version to make upgrades simpler.
