What could be happen to the rest of the network if by mistake we bridge two ports of TL-SF1008P switch?

Hey

 

As i have never tested this personally its only theoretical..

 

However my thinking is that the switch being of the un-managed type likely wouldn't have STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) and therefore wont detect a loop in the network.   

 

Gut feeling it will start to flood the network and performance would suffer massively as packets go round in a circle.  

 

You would likely notice the LEDs on the ports flashing frantically / beyond normal levels and performance will drop, usually the first thing to go is DHCP; namely the clients stop getting or are unable to renew addresses.

 

This could likely be a bad thing!
