Hello,

I have to reset password for a lot of

T1600G-52

T2600G-52

T1600G-28

switches.

is it possible to do that following this guide and connecting a pc to the console port?

and then selecting password reset feature (option 6 on this guide https://www.tp-link.com/us/configuration-guides/q_a_basic_configuration/?configurationId=2964#_idTextAnchor001) ?

T1600G series don't have console port, but it has Reset button. Press reset button for several seconds and you will go to the factory defaults. T2600G series don't have Reset button, while it has Console port. You can connect to it (speed 38400 by default) and do the FAQ. There will be reset option, when you enter BootUtil.

If you reset switch with a button, it will delete all the configs. There is no way to reset the switch without losing configs, if you forgot your pw. Only if you enabled SNMP before and you know community name, then you can backup cfg without cfg by SNMP, but it is disabled by default.

hello, thanks for the answer. In case I reset T1600G to default with the reset button. Do you happen to know how that works? I need to know if it saves the running config somewhere, and then boots with the default configuration. If it does so, I can finally access the switch and see the old running config somewhere and eventually replicate it. I need it because nobody nowhere has the administrative password for those devices.
