I have recently switched from a MikroTik RB4011iGS+RM and Ubiquiti  UAP-AC-LITE-US behind a ATT Uvserse 5268ac in DMZ+ mode to a TL-ER7206, TL-SG2008P, and 3x EAP620 HD. I have a very simple network configuration. No VPN, no VLAN, no open ports, no IGMP, and 1 network SSID. The controller is running on a Windows 10 PC x64 with an Intel 4670k and 16GB RAM.

 

After installing the new system I had serious issues with streaming services buffering frequently or not connecting at all. Speed tests reported >700Mb/s both up and down. It was especially bad when attempting to Chromecast from a Pixel 4 to a Vizio P75-F1. However the buffering would happen on hardwired PCs, phones, and TVs. Some services like YouTube seemed to be fine, but Vudu was especially bad and the connection would actually fail after streaming for some time. I have upgraded the ER7206 to the latest firmware and the issue actually got worse. Devices appear to have solid internet connections at all times.

 

Last evening I switched the ER7206 out for the MikroTik RB4011 and had no issues streaming content. Any suggestions on how to debug this?

How about Clone the MAC address for ER7206 on Controller's page? Also change MTU into 1450 or any smaller number.

 

By the way, what is the internet dail up way, is PPPOE or Dynamic IP?

I will attempt this when I get a chance, but based on my current implementation with the MikroTik router and EAP620 HD APs it should work as-is.

 

My IP is dynamic. Currently using the MikroTik the MTU is set to 1500 and it works without issue. I think it is unlikely the MAC address has anything to do with the issue since the only authentication my ISP uses happens between the ONT and the Pace Gateway via encryption key exchange. The router behind the router in DMZ+ mode is sanctioned by AT&T and should be device/MAC agnostic.   

 

I will update when I have more information.

I have cloned the MAC of the RB4011 and set the MTU to 1470. So far it appears to be working, but sometimes the issue does not occur immediately. Is there a reason why I would need a lower MTU on the TL-ER7206 when it worked fine with a 1500 MTU on the Mikrotik RB4011?

After about 15 minutes the connection was again lost to Vudu while streaming. The issue remains open.

I have reverted back to the RB4011 router but included the TL-SG2008P instead of using the switch ports on the router. Vudu appears to work normally through the switch so the issue must be with the router.
