Hello there! I am having an issue with our R600 router. The network setup is Modem>R600 Router>TL-SG1008P Switch>Various AP's etc. The issue that occurs is that every 48 hours (DHCP Server set to 2880 minutes, the max) when it goes to renew the IP addresses, that network completely loses internet connectivity from the modem. The resolution is to unplug and reboot the router, and it is immediately fixed. This now happens every 48 hours and coincides pricesly when the DHCP renew proces on the router starts according to the logs. There are no unusual errors in the logs, but I can follow up when I am onsite later and pull them again if needed.

 

  • I've tried turning off most Firewall features
  • I've tried changing the DHCP reservation time - it downtime always coordinates with the DHCP request
  • I've tried updating from 4.03 to 4.04 firmware - issues still exists
  • I occasionally got the Ping of Death error in the log. This feature was turned on, and I also tried turning it off to see if that helped.

 

Not entirely sure what else I should be doing here. This issue started happening about a month ago, and it hadn't happened beforehand. As far as I know there have been no new devices on this network. Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

You can set up the DHCP lease time to a smaller number, for example, 1 or 2 minutes. When it is time to change the IP address, monitor if the device can get internet.

 

1. First, check the IP address, Default Gateway and DNS on the PC or phone.

 

2. Then go to "Network--LAN--DHCP Client List" to check if you can see the device's IP address.

 

3. Use Ping Command on the device, Ping the LAN IP of the router, Ping 8.8.8.8

 

4. Reboot a device instead of the router, and test if device can get interent.

 

5. Go to "Network--LAN--Address Reservation", give one specific client IP address and monitor.
